How does it sound to have your .myfriend or .car, or .cosmetics domain? Until now, these were not available, as the authorrity which regulates the internet top level domains, ICANN, accepted only country names as extensions, plus the well-known .com, .info, .org, .biz, .edu, .name and more recently, .tv, .mobi and .eu.

If the ICANN proposal will become reality, then individuals will be allowed to register any domain extension they wish, provided they can prove the technical capacity to handle it, and a viable business plan, be it for an internet business or a brick and mortar one.

I don’t know what a viable business plan means, but I imagine that new TLD extensions will make the rich even richer.

What do you think? Or I should rather ask you what do you .think?
