In my opinion, the worst kind of spyware or malware I’ve been confrounted to was the onw which delivered a message like “your computer was infected with … click here to download the antidot and clean the infected files”. I was so naive, that I clicked. One second later, I realized my mistqake, as I got a full scree of red-yellow warnings, flashing all over the place, announcing me that I need to run that newly installed program to get rid of the things (viruses, malware or whatever) in my computer.
After a scanning process which seemed to be taking forever, as my computer contained almost one million files, I was announced that I need to pay a certain anout of money to get my PC cleaned.
They were not asking for too much money. I don’t remember the exact amount, but it was something like $25 or $35. I was thinking to buy that software and get my computer running normally again, when I thought I’d better search on Google to see who are those guys, before paying them.
I was glad I did so. This is how I found out that it was only a tricks meant to get money out of my pocket, and that in fact my computer had nothing harmful inside. That scanning software was just pretending to fing viruses and malware, only to scare me and make me pay.
In two hours or so, after trying several solutions found online, I was able to get that program removed.
