Internet has gone crazy lately. There’s no wonder then that everybody is chasing a super anti spyware program to keep their computers away from unseen eyes. They are right to do so, because getting rid of spyware and adware can be a hassle many times, and every now and then cleaning the computer may mean formatting the hard disk and installing everything from the beginning. Have you any idea how much this would take? I can tell you: too much!
What Super Anti Spyware Should Do
As I see it, a super anti spyware, in case it exists, should accomplish the following tasks:
- keep my computer protected from spyware and dangerous trojans like the win32 trojan, trojan w32 looksky or trojan zlob, or any trojan horse generic program
- protect and keep backup copies of the following files: svchost exe, ctfmon exe, rhdcpl exe, alg exe, winlogon exe, rundll32 exe and lsass exe.
- in the unlikely event of a sypware infection, retrieve the above mentioned files and overwrite the infected ones, like winlogon exe, which is very important for starting your operating system clean.
- update itself automatically with new definitions, to avoid any trojan dropper to mess with my computer
What would the super anti spyware do for you?

In my opinion, the worst kind of spyware or malware I’ve been confrounted to was the onw which delivered a message like “your computer was infected with … click here to download the antidot and clean the infected files”. I was so naive, that I clicked. One second later, I realized my mistqake, as I got a full scree of red-yellow warnings, flashing all over the place, announcing me that I need to run that newly installed program to get rid of the things (viruses, malware or whatever) in my computer.
After a scanning process which seemed to be taking forever, as my computer contained almost one million files, I was announced that I need to pay a certain anout of money to get my PC cleaned.
They were not asking for too much money. I don’t remember the exact amount, but it was something like $25 or $35. I was thinking to buy that software and get my computer running normally again, when I thought I’d better search on Google to see who are those guys, before paying them.
I was glad I did so. This is how I found out that it was only a tricks meant to get money out of my pocket, and that in fact my computer had nothing harmful inside. That scanning software was just pretending to fing viruses and malware, only to scare me and make me pay.
In two hours or so, after trying several solutions found online, I was able to get that program removed.

The average computer user like you and me doesn’t know a lot about how the system works. And I don’t see why they should: as long as everything works and you can have your job done, you don’t need to know what happens inside the computer. It is just like a black box: we input what we need and we get what we want, without taking care or watching the whole process in-between the two steps. It’s like doing the laundry: you input dirty clothes and detergent, you push a few buttons and wait. At the end of the procewss, you get clean clothes. This is all you care about: the final cleanliness of your clothing, and nothing else. You don’t need to know chemistry, or to follow the transformations and interactions of dirt and detergent molecules in order to clean your laundry.
Why then would you be concerned of what a computer does in order to allow you write a letter?
This is why hunting for spyware can be a very difficult task, because it implies following instructions with as many as 10-15 steps. Each of these steps consists of installing something, or modifying files, or executing strange lines of code, so mistakes are very easy to make.
But you don’t need to panic, even if you don’t know anything about computers. Search the net for spyware removal solutions, indicating the name of the spyware program you’ve got infected with. Usually, those programs state their names and authors, so searching for solutions would be easy.
Print out the pages with the solutions you’ve found, and then follow them step by step, writing down at each step what you have done.
If you are lucky, you’ll manage to get rid of the nasty spyware by yourself. If not, the worst case scenario would be reinstalling all software in your computer, case in which, if you don’t know anything, you’d need a specialist to do it for you.
